About Avigail

Avigail Hurvitz-Prinz, LCSW, is a licensed psychotherapist practicing with licensure in New York.

She holds a Masters degree from Smith College School for Social Work where she was trained in psychodynamic, trauma-focused, and feminist approaches to clinical work with adults. Avigail has advanced training in relational psychotherapy through the Stephen Mitchell Center Relational Study Center and as well as sex therapy. Much of her work involves the treatment of trauma, loss, grief, depression, anxiety and relationship issues.

Avigail specializes in working with so called sexual minorities — people from LGBTQ+ community, people in non-monogomous or polyamorous relationship structures, people who do sex work or hire sex workers, people involved in BDSM/kink or people who are curious about their sexuality and questioning. She has a special sensitivity to diverse cultures and religious backgrounds, especially people from formerly fundamentalist communities.

Within the busyness of life, she strives to create a sanctuary and refuge for deep and thoughtful reflection,  directed by curiosity, playfulness and learning together through the difficulties of it all.
